Quan Yin riding on a Dragon [PSL0820]

Limited edition fine art prints

Limited edition fine art giclée prints which have been carefully colour matched to the original artwork for printing on finest quality 308gsm Photorag archival paper or 450gsm archival canvas. Reproduced from an original oil painting of Buddhist imagery on canvas by Supoj Lukkham.

Quan Yin is portrayed riding in the heavens on the back of a dragon. From her right hand she pours the blessed waters of compassion over the land below; in her left hand she holds a sprig of willow which she uses to spread the heavenly nectar.

The Dragon is recognised as a symbol of fertility, goodness, strength and authority. Dragons are also protectors of the faith, keeping watch over temples and even Heaven itself.

Guan Yin is one of the most universally beloved of deities in the Buddhist tradition. Also known as Quan Yin (Cantonese) Quan'Am (Vietnam), Kannon (Japan), and Kanin (Bali), she is the embodiment of compassionate loving kindness. As the Bodhisattva of Compassion, She hears the cries of all beings. Guan-yin enjoys a strong resonance with the Christian Mary, the Mother of Jesus, and the Tibetan goddess Tara.
